Be a Geologist! Investigating the Layers of the Earth

Grade Level(s):
6 Science students

Students will have fun making observations about an imaginary sample from the fictional planet “chocolatopia” to discover how a core sample can explain the history and the make-up of a real planet such as the earth. Students will learn about the layers of the earth and what happens to those layers through the motion of the tectonic plates. Students will talk about geologists and what they do.

All the materials needed for this session will be provided in kits sent to participating schools.
