Videoconferencing DEEP uses videoconferencing to deliver professional development to educators in North Carolina public schools and state agencies. The professional development programs are typically scheduled after the school day ends. Sites not equipped for videoconferencing may view the programs streamed live on the scheduled date and time; programs are also archived for later viewing. Click here to view current offerings.
Summer Programs
NCSSM is one of eleven North Carolina Mathematics and Science Education Network (NC-MSEN) Centers that form a network across the state with a common purpose of strengthening K-12 science and mathematics education by improving the quality of teaching throughout North Carolina. NC-MSEN has created a series of professional development programs for teachers. Summer professional development programs vary from year to year. Listings and information for upcoming opportunities will be posted when available. For information, contact Carole Stern, stern@ncssm.edu, 919 416-2635.
Collaborations
NCSSM Distance Education teachers partner with high schools to create teacher collaborations. The collaboration provides teachers with an opportunity to integrate technology and new approaches into an existing course, adopt a new course or develop an AP course. Teachers involved in collaborations meet once per week with the class and once per week to plan and to discuss issues. Collaborations are effective for new teachers and teachers teaching out of field. Collaboration opportunities vary by semester. To learn what may be available, contact Peg Kirk at kirk@ncssm.edu. |
