Distance Education instructors use many custom-designed graphics and animations to supplement their lessons.
Mathematics courses use 2D and 3D animations to graphically present problems and situations. 3D animations are often used to present geometric concepts that are difficult to grasp without good visual representation.
Chemistry uses 2D and 3D animations extensively to help students visualize molecular and atomic-level processes which cannot be seen . Many of these graphics and animations are available for viewing or downloading from T.I.G.E.R. in the Resources section of this web site.
Program slates are also created, along with diagrams, charts, maps, scanned images, logos and more. Flyers, brochures and other printed materials are also produced in support of the distance education course schedule and for course materials.

Another facet of the graphics production is this Distance Education Technologies web site and other web graphics and HTML authoring in support of the distance education effort. Some distance education instructors have their own web sites to supplement their courses, both for distance education students and for their on-campus students at NCSSM.

Web-based offerings are expanding and under development. The animations, diagrams, photos and other graphics materials for these courses are also designed and produced by the graphics team. Much of this work is available on the T.I.G.E.R. site, as well as the NCSSM Chemistry Department's C.O.R.E. site.

Two high-end non-linear video editing systems provides the capability to edit video segments and demonstrations for instructors to use in class. This allows teachers to prepare and present materials, such as certain chemistry experiments or field observations, which are not feasible or safe to do in the studio setting. This editing studio also produces streaming media from video for use in web-based courses and other distance learning applications.
